Matter -- It's All about Change

A great way to have fun with your preschooler and teach science at the same time.

1. Cut up fruits & veggies your kid(s) like.
2. Find enough cups to accommodate the number of bite-size nibbles and varieties you have.
3. Fill cups with the fruits & veggies; then fill with water. Note: the less water you put in the cups & the smaller the cups, the faster they will freeze & thaw.
4. Place in freezer for at least 2 hours.
5. Remove from freezer. Place cups in larger container like a glass casserole dish.
6. Watch as the ice melts.

Throughout the process, have your preschooler help in whatever capacity they can. Ask them what foods they want to try out. Have them help cut them up and fill the cups. You can also have the note down their observations before, during, and after.
